Virginia's Scenic Rivers Program turns 40 in 2010 and the Rivanna River was among the very first to be designated as scenic. The South Fork Rivanna was designated in 1975 with an extension in 1988. And, with the breaching of the Woolen Mills Dam the remaining segments were added in 2009 completing the designation for the entire river. Join Rivanna Conservation Society for a discussion of its efforts to raise public awareness and engage the community in the care and protection of the Rivanna River and its tributaries.
